Tell us a little bit about your brand and the venue (what you offer, do, and the space itself etc.)

We are a speciality coffee shop serving up Proper Coffee. Proper Food. We are in the business of putting smiles on faces and do this through our friendly team, freshly cooked, exciting brunch menu and banging coffee.

  • How long have you been at this venue?

Since march 2016

  • What do you know about the history of the building?

It was vacant for 5 years before we moved in and was a printers before, it now hosts us and HM Passport Office.

  • Have you heard the poem, what did you think?

Not Yet!

  • What would you recommend off the menu?

Eggy crumpets - egg dipped crumpets, grilled halloumi and smoked chilli jam. Think French toast, but better. Trust us.

  • What is the best thing about being an indie venue in Birmingham?

The incredible community that you are part of, everyone is so welcoming and it’s really cool to be involved with other venues with real passion and excellence for what they do.

  • What sets you apart from other venues in the city?

We want to improve everyone who walks through our doors day, whether they come in for a quick takeaway, a catch up with friends or an important business meeting.

Why do you think independent venues are so important for Birmingham?

Independent venues are where boundaries are pushed and exciting things happen, they provide spirit and exciting places for Brummies to enjoy themselves. Venues with heart and soul are good for any city, town or village.

  • Why did you decide to be a host venue for Overhear and Overheard Walking Tours?

We have hosted a lot of poetry event and have always loved them, so jumped at the chance to be involved in such an exciting and cool concept.

  • Have you ever worked with any similar projects to Overhear?

No

  • Why do you think art projects are important for Birmingham?

Similar answer to the independents. Art challenges people and get’s people talking, that can only be a good thing.

  • What do you love most about being based in Birmingham?

The community of customers and other independent businesses. It’s an exciting time to be an independent in Brum!

  • What are you looking forward to most about the Overheard Walking Tours?

Hosting lots of new customers, chatting to them and showing them what we are about!
